2017 Shorty Shorts Film Festival Winners
Audience Awards recognizes that filmmakers have so much more at their disposal than mere words. Therefore, we asked our community to show us an entire story in the tiniest of short (60 seconds or less to be exact)! Here are the top three jury selected winning films from our Shorty Shorts Film Festival.
The first place film is Elefant by Erik Axelsson, a 40-second animated film aimed to raise awareness about poaching. Axelsson told Audience Awards,
The main difficulty making this film was the time consuming stop-motion photography and getting the lighting right. On the other hand, making the landscapes and bringing the elephants to life was pure joy!
Tied up, slapped, then abandoned is the theme of the second place film, Cable Tie by Max Paterson. A lot goes through a teenage boy’s head, and some come out in the form of a wish, a wish gone wrong.
Paterson’s film comes in at a total run time of 10 seconds. To him, this project was more of a filmmaking exercise and a challenge to defeat. He explained,
In complete seriousness, I learned an awful lot through the process of this very short, short film, and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to ‘up their game’ in filmmaking.
The third-place film, Fitness Blok by Brent Noll, features a 40 second, loop style animated short fitness routine inspired by treadmill videos. Because sometimes the only way to learn is the hard way.
A huge thanks to our community of creatives and filmmakers who submitted, and hearty congratulations to all the winners! We look forward to seeing the top three films premiere at AudFest 2018! To stay up-to-date on our festival winners, visit: http://audnews.com/contests/winners
