Win $20K in a #ReelLouisiana video contest!
There’s a lot to love about the Pelican State, and you don’t have to be there to notice.
Louisiana is a state so rich in cultural heritage, so replete with distinguished circumstance, they’re able to use #OnlyLouisiana as their official tourism hashtag.
Sure, they claim the tallest capitol building (450 feet!) and the longest bridge over water (Lake Pontchartrain Causeway – almost 24 miles long). Louisiana is known for their outstanding food, their joie de vivre, their powerful musical culture and their resilience. Of course they boast bayous that leave you breathless and the most enchanting topography and terrain.
Some things you may not know about the state: Louisiana has more Native American tribes than any other Southern state. They have no official language because their state constitution specifically protects “the right of the people to preserve, foster and promote their respective historic, linguistic and cultural origins.” Louisiana boasts the Army’s first African American officers and the very first railroad spike ever driven into the ground by a woman. It may be their strong respect for the melting pot which is the most impressive singular thing about Louisiana.
They want filmmakers to show, in 90 seconds or less, some of the magic that #OnlyLouisiana holds. This call goes out to all filmmakers, whether in Louisiana or not. There’s a lot to love about the Pelican State, and you don’t have to be there to notice.
There are $20,000 in prizes at stake and the final jury winners will be announced and screened at the Lt. Governor’s Tourism Summit.
