Django Unchained (2012)


This film won Tarantino his second Oscar for best writer of an original screenplay. The film stars Django (Jamie Foxx),  who together with a German bounty hunter (Christopher Waltz) rescue Django’s wife (Kerry Washington) from a ruthless slaveowner (Leonardo Dicaprio). Christopher Waltz also won an Oscar for best performance by an actor in a supporting role.

Inglorious Basterds (2009)

A team of Jewish-American soldiers and a German Jewish theater owner plan to assassinate leading Nazi officials. One American soldier goes undercover as a German in the picture below. His identity is compromised by the British way he makes the number three with his fingers in this tense scene. This film won Christopher Waltz another Oscar for best performance by an actor in a supporting role.

Death Proof (2007)

Death Proof follows two sets of women who are being stalked by a psychotic stuntman who seeks to murder them with his “death proof” stunt car. This slasher film was released as a part of a double feature titled Grindhouse, along with Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror.

Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004)

The second in the Kill Bill series, this volume tracks the bride or “Black Mamba’s” (Uma Thurman) continued vengeance, from the first volume, against her ex-lover Bill, Budd the bouncer and Elle Driver: the former members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad.

Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)

The bride awakens from a four-year coma, without the child she once carried, and must gain strength to attack the team of assassins she was once a member of and who betrayed her.

Jackie Brown (1997)

Adapted from Elmore Leonard’s novel “Rum Punch,” this crime-drama follows a flight attendant who is working for a small Mexican airline and also smuggling money for a black-market arms dealer (Samuel L. Jackson).

Pulp Fiction (1994)

The epitome of American cult classics, Pulp Fiction won Tarantino his first Oscar, along with Roger Avary, for best screenplay written directly for the screen. John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman and Bruce Willis –  this film is arguably the most iconic  Tarantino film.

Natural Born Killers (1994)

Two victims of childhood trauma (Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis) become psychotic serial killers and lovers, whose story is of great interest to the press.

True Romance (1993)

Written by Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott, this comedy-crime film is a story about two newlyweds: Clarence (Christian Slater) and Alabama (Patricia Arquette) who steal cocaine from Alabama’s pimp to try and sell it in Hollywood.

Reservoir Dogs (1992)

This film depicts the before and after effects of a jewelry heist that goes awry. The criminals suspect that amongst them is an undercover policeman. This film was Tarantino’s debut and features a star studded cast including: Tim Roth, Lawrence Tierney, Steve Buscemi, Michael Madsen and Harvey Keitel.
